The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asuogyaman in the Eastern Region, Mr. Thomas Nyarko Ampem has assured supporters of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) of his commitment to develop the constituency.
Mr. Ampem also believes he is the best candidate to lead the NDC to snatch the parliamentary seat from the NPP in the 2016 general elections.
The DCE was addressing a rally last Sunday in Atimpoku after filing his nomination papers to contest the party’s November 7 parliamentary primaries in the Asuogyaman constituency.
“I have sincerely served you as District Chief Executive and will continue to be your humble servant in Parliament,” he said.
Mr. Ampem also seized the opportunity to appeal to three other contestants in the constituency– a former MP for the constituency, Rev. Joses Asare Akoto, incumbent chairman of the party in the constituency, Wilfred Yevugah and Richard Norgbedzi – to withdraw from the race and support his bid to record a resounding victory for the party in 2016.
Meanwhile the Eastern Regional Deputy Secretary of the NDC, Francis Annor-Dompreh said the party’s “Agenda 50 -50,” which is a strategy to maximize votes to equal the number of votes to be obtained by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the region during the 2016 elections, was on course.
