The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has began disconnecting defaulting institutions in the Central Region.
Affected institutions include the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital and the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
[contextly_sidebar id=”IEZwzZoRAZSomgQ6T7WauXFwQs3T08oh”]The ECG said it took the decision because these institutions owe them over twenty-four million cedis.
The ECG earlier served the defaulting institutions notice that it will cut power supply to their facilities if they fail to settle their debts.
The Central Regional Public Relations Officer of ECG, Isaac Nurris Ainnooso confirmed this Citi News and said they will only give them power if they settle their bills.
“If they are able to pay 70% of what is accrued then we can begin negotiating with these companies,” he stated.
ECG recently embarked on a similar exercise at the Koforidua Polytechnic.
