Two years after serving a three day jail term for criminal contempt, Stephen Atubiga has picked up forms to contest for a seat in the upcoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries.

He is aspiring to contest in the primaries for Binduri in the Upper East Region.

[contextly_sidebar id=”Z4cy0LszKeh8UEwOR3mdCouEMMLWXxZS”]Atubiga, a member of the NDC communications team was sentenced to three days in prison during the 2012 election petition case after making comments the panel of judges deemed contemptuous.

He however believes his incarceration will not affect his bid to win in the primaries.

“…The stakeholders, the opinion leaders and especially the youth …think I will be a good candidate for them….The rank and file of the party know that I am ready to put my life on the line for the good people and I will also defend the integrity and progress of the NDC,”he said.

In a related development, the Deputy Northern Regional Minister and Member of Parliament (MP) for Sagnarigu, Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini, is confident he will sail through the NDC parliamentary primaries and  retain the seat for the party.

Alhaji Fuseini, who picked up the party’s parliamentary nomination forms last Thursday, told Citi News his plan is to increase the votes of the NDC in the constituency.

About 48 aspirants  have so far have picked up nomination forms to contest in the party’s primaries.
