Strategic Communications Africa Ltd. (Stratcomm Africa) has launched “Communicate,” Ghana’s first total communications magazine.
The launch, which took place in Accra, was attended by Communications professionals, as well as members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of corporate organizations and media practitioners, among others.
Launching the magazine, Ms. Lucy Quist, Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Ghana, said: “The introduction of Communicate is significant for Africa, which needs African Voices to tell its story to investors and the rest of the world.”
“I am part of the African experience and so I know the critical importance of such a magazine. She added, “For us in the corporate world, the importance of communication in making ourselves known to our customers, in managing our reputation and in branding cannot be underestimated,” she added.
She said wrong approaches to communications have created major corporate problems and stressed the need for communications professionals to employ right approaches to communications.
Ms. Quist was pleased to see that Stratcomm Africa has taken this initiative to launch this magazine to serve as a medium of knowledge-sharing not only among the communications professionals but also with the wider public, including corporate executives.
The Managing Director of Graphic Group of Communications, Mr. Ken Ashigbey, who provided a review of the maiden edition of the magazine noted that: “Communicate” is a great initiative by Stratcomm Africa to project the Communications industry in Ghana and demonstrate the value of effective communication to the country.”
He added that “The maiden edition of communicate contains engaging and insightful articles and features on branding and advertising, case studies on communication for development, social media, public relations and change management as well as reputation management and crisis communication and leadership and corporate communications.”
Mr. George Mensah Asante, Executive Director, Domestic of Ecobank Ghana, sponsor of the publication, in his remarks, indicated that Ecobank was delighted to be a sponsor of “Communicate,” “a magazine that will serve as an important resource to some of our most valued partners, namely Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) owners.” He noted that as SMEs invest in a good reputation for their businesses, they would attract more customers and ultimately more profit. They would thus also contribute to the growth of the national economy.
Solidarity and congratulatory messages from the Advertisers Association of Ghana, Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) and the Institute of Public Relations (IPR), who were represented by Mr. Francis Dadzie (Executive Secretary, AAG), Mr. Chris Asempa (Deputy Executive Director, CIMG) and Mr. Henry Dottey (Honorary Secretary, IPR) respectively.
