The late Ghanaian Times presidential correspondent Samuel Nuamah who died in a fatal accident will be buried on September 17, 2015.
Samuel Nuamah, a member of the Presidential Press Corps lost his life following an accident involving the media bus while returning from an assignment in Ho in the Volta Region.
[contextly_sidebar id=”bSU8jhkvb267ts6nTDQ82xT2Fi3Y0FIN”]The journalists were returning to Accra after covering the President who delivered a speech at the Evangelical Presbyterian (EP) Church convention when the accident occurred.
The accident occurred around Dawhwenya in the Greater Accra Region.
Brother of the deceased Emmanuel Asamoah who confirmed this to Citi News said : “the place of the ceremony is at the state house, and then we will bury him at the Osu cemetery.”
Many have since Nuamah’s death blamed the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and other key stakeholders in the media industry for the incident.
They argue that the incident could have been averted if due diligence regarding the conditions under which reporters carry out their duties was observed.
Meanwhile the outcome of the meeting between the Chief of Staff and President of GJA, Affail Monney, which was suggestive that, there was no wrongdoing in the accident involving the Presidential Press Corps has been dismissed by the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC).
The NRSC confirmed that the tyres of the vehicle hired for the journalists were terribly worn out.
After the accident, NRSC took samples of the tyres and upon painstaking examination, concluded that the tyres were not in good condition and not suitable for the roads.
