Detective Corporal (DC) Evans Adu, the arresting officer in the Ekow Micah’s case has testified in court.
He said on Thursday that he found the black polythene bag containing substances suspected to be Indian hemp with the suspect.
DC Evans Adu told an Accra Circuit Court the black polythene bag was found in the back pack of Ekow Micah and that the suspect claimed ownership of the bag.

Detective Adu was giving evidence at the ongoing trial of Micah, a famous reggae star who is being held for possessing quantity of substances drugs suspected to be Indian hemp.
Ekow has denied the charge and is currently on remand.
Continuing with his evidence led by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Moses Atibillah, DC Adu admitted knowing Micah when he was arrested at the Airport Police Station for extortion on August 4, 2015.
The first prosecution witness said on August 5, this year, he accompanied one Detective Corporal Richmond Ayayi, the case investigator as well as Micah to the house of Micah at Ogbojo in Accra.
Witness said after the search in Micah’s house where the substance was retrieved it was later sent for forensic examination and further investigations.
Answering questions under cross – examination, DC Adu admitted that it was based on his suspicion that Micah was connected to the charge.
Earlier Micah’s counsel, Mr John David Percy lamented over the charge and facts of the matter.
According to Mr Percy the facts did not support the charge and would therefore need the advice of the Attorney General.
Counsel noted that the prosecution was alleging that the suspect used some substance suspected to be a narcotic drug.
“As at now we don’t know what the alleged substance is,” counsel said.
Mr Maurice Ampaw co- lawyer insisted that the defense team should be informed of the exact substance.
The presiding judge, Mr Aboagye Tandoh noted that he did not see any complexity in the matter and added that if the prosecution had difficulties they would have to seek advice from the Attorney General.
Narrating the facts of the case earlier, ACP Atibillah said Micah is a resident of Ogbojo, near Kokrobite in Accra.
He said on August 4, Micah was arrested by the Airport Police over an alleged extortion case currently under investigations.
ACP Atibillah said the following day, at about 1130 hours, the Police and the accused person visited Micah’s house to conduct a search and in the process, a quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp was found concealed in Micah’s “back pack”.
Prosecution said the exhibit has been forwarded to the Police Forensic Crime laboratory for examination.
