Workers of the five destination inspections are calling on government to allow the Ghana Revenue Authority employ them to avert job losses
The over 540 workers argue that they will be unemployed when government begins the implementation of its single window policy with west blue company limited on September 1.

The workers argue that their skills and years of experience cannot go waste and would be useful to government.
Addressing a press conference in Accra, the leader of the workers, Carl Sowah called on government to institute a transition period that will facilitate their transfer to the GRA and the West Blue company limited.
Background
The government is solely engaging West Blue Consulting for the implementation of the single window project in Ghana.
The single-window system is a trade facilitation which enables cross-border traders to submit regulatory documents at a single location.
The documents include customs declarations, applications for import/export permits, and other supporting documents such as certificates of origin and trading invoices.
This is aimed at increasing the efficiency through time and cost savings for traders in their dealings with government authorities for obtaining the relevant clearance and permits for moving cargoes across national or economic borders.
But some industry players have kicked against the decision because according to them, the process under which West Blue was handpicked to implement this national single window platform was erroneous.
Meanwhile, West Blue’s software has been deployed at the Headquarters of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority as part of preparations to roll out the Single Window Project by September 1 this year.
