The Volta Regional branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is unperturbed by allegations of aiding Togolese to register and vote in Ghana’s Presidential elections, Mr Kwadwo Gyapong, Volta Regional Chairman of the party has said.

[contextly_sidebar id=”EKzGV16mMz7EhkmUpx7t3r5EeuECChjV”]He asserted that there was nothing illegal with mobilizing members of the Party in Benin, Togo and other neighbouring countries to come and participate in national elections.

Mr Gyapong was interacting with the media on Thursday in relation to newspaper publications, alleging that some “NDC boys confessed” to having aided Togolese to register to participate in national elections in the country.

One Victor Gboga, said to be a student, whose picture accompanied one of the news reports, denied his involvement in any such exercise.

Mr Gyapong described the reports as unfortunate and a scheme by the “so called NDC boys to make some money from NPP”.

“We are not intimidated by this at all. The NPP can’t use this to intimidate us. We are focused and sure of great victory in 2016,” he stated.

Mr Gyapong said the Volta Region was working towards its “gap 1 million” agenda in the general elections by reaching out to members in all neighbouring countries to come and vote massively in next year’s elections.

“President Mahama has done a lot for the Volta Region. The NDC is doing massively well and all our members living anywhere must come and vote,” he said.

According to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ghana’s voters’ register has more than 76,000 Togolese on it, which according to them, compromises the credibility of the register, ahead of the 2016 elections.
