The 2012 Presidential candidate of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Papa Kwesi Nduom, reportedly had stones thrown at him at a football match in Elmina over the weekend.

The CEO of Groupe Nduom was at the stadium built by his company to witness the Division One league match between the Sharks and Dwarfs.

According to a post on Nduom’s official Facebook page, some fans “broke through the perimeter fence” but were restrained by the police.

It claimed that supporters of the governing National Democratic Congress might have been involved in the  incident.

Nduom urged the Ghana Football Association to round up the perpetrators and “discipline them and the league.”

PPP’s founder, whose company, GN Bank sponsors the Division one league even suggested that they would consider withdrawing the sponsorship should such behaviour continue.
