The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has extended the deadline for the biometric registration of its members.

[contextly_sidebar id=”wQfUXOJiDQg9Iip8ETB03I1HwAuYimIp”]The registration, according to the party’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia forms part of efforts to increase their membership base as well as the number of votes for President Mahama in the 2016 general elections.

The registration exercise was initially scheduled to end on Sunday, August 23.

But a statement signed by the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Koku Anyidoho indicated that the decision to extend the deadline was influenced by the increased outcry from party members.

“It has come to light that there is a need to extend the process so national has responded to the call from the base of the party so we have extended the finish date from the 23rd to the 30th August,” he said.

Mr. Anyidoho added that the process has so far been successful.

“It is going on well, last week we sent teams from the national level to all the ten regions so as I speak, we have ourselves spread out all over the regions,” he said.

The biometric registration also precedes an ambitious aim of the NDC to ensure that all registered members of the party take part in the presidential and parliamentary primaries slated for November 7, 2015.
