The host of the Citi Breakfast Show, and Director of News Programming Bernard Koku Avle has been awarded by the Student Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Ghana for his contribution towards national development through his work.
On Thursday, representatives of the SRC presented the “University of Ghana Excellence award” to Mr Avle in the studios of Citi FM at Adabraka.
Speaking to Citi News, the SRC Vice President, Michael Dugbater said the award is not only to honour the astute broadcast journalist but also to motivate students who would want to succeed in other endeavours.
“We looked through the media and saw that Bernard Avle is an influential person. As an alumni too, most people look up to him because of his achievements.”
Mr Dugbater also noted that the award is aimed at honouring people who have excelled in all phases of their careers- entrepreneurs, students and lecturers.
He called on students to aim high and look up to role models so they can also contribute to national development.
He also called on corporate institutions to join hands and support the scheme to serve as a motivation for young ones.
