The National Labour Commission (NLC) has directed the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) and government to resume negotiations immediately on a codified condition of service for the doctors.

This follows a meeting convened by the NLC to resolve the current impasse.
The doctors have withdrawn all out-patient and emergency services from all government hospitals, demanding documented conditions of service.
A statement from the NLC, signed by its Acting Executive Secretary, Dr Bernice Welbeck also called on both parties to report to the commission on Monday on any progress made or otherwise.
The statement also urged both parties to cease all media engagements forthwith.`”
“The Commissions intervention is pursuant to Section 138 (1) (a) of the Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651) which states: to facilitate the settlement of industrial disputes,” the statement added.
