A Labor analyst Seth Aboloso, has asked government to cease all negotiations with the Ghana Medical Association(GMA) as it is not the right institution to negotiate with the striking doctors.

According to him,  the Ghana Health Service (GHS) which is the immediate employer of doctors should rather be negotiating with the doctors.

[contextly_sidebar id=”CWPOgRtOES7nm7BKFJNe7sOHF5s0glAE”]“In this negotiation, government directly has no place. The Ghana Medical Association needs to be negotiating with the Ghana Health Service, which is the employer,” he said.

Mr. Aboloso added that “If we will recognize that we need to operate in accordance with the law, then in my considered opinion, government should withdraw and let Ghana Health Service take its place in the negotiations.”

He further suggested that the health service should play its rightful role for negotiations to go forward.

Minister of health, Alex Segbefia on Tuesday asked heads of the various public hospitals to submit names of all doctors who failed to report to work on Wednesday,August 19, 2015.

Meanwhile 177 Cuban doctors are expected to arrive in the country to help ease the burden on doctors working in government hospitals.

Public doctors have been on strike since June 30 over demands for a codified terms of condition of service.
