‘NPP is behaving like student with forged answers, looking for a formula’ – Mosquito

The General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has mocked the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) evidence claiming to be the reason for it’s calls for a new voters register because the current one is compromised.

[contextly_sidebar id=”OjOj50vZD4Feq7z5EZoFZf8NRtiDLQ3A”]“The NPP is behaving like a student who has forged answers and is trying to look for a formula that will generate those answers,” he mocked.

The NPP on Tuesday petitioned the Electoral Commission (EC) to have the voters register replaced with a new one insisting that about 76,286 Togolese voters are on it hence must be scrapped.

They further argued that the register from 2008 to 2012 increased to 25% saying it does not make sense.

“An increase of the voters register by 25 percent between two elections is abnormally high and there are also several instances of this. One cannot credibly explain for example how increases in the voters’ register of magnitudes exceeding 40 percent can take place. Where did the people come from?” NPP Vice Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia questioned.

The NPP had earlier tried to rally other opposition parties to join their call for the replacement of the voters register.

Meanwhile, speaking on Eyewitness News, the NDC’s scribe, Asiedu Nketia said the NPP’s claim suggest that they are devising strategies to rig the 2016 general election.

“They have stated that their objective getting into 2016 election is to get the current voters register which made it impossible for them to engage in their multiple voting replaced with another one that will facilitate their own ways of doing things. And they have started searching for reasons to justify the replacement of that register and that is why they jump from one reason to the other and when that reason is disputed they get to another and so on.”

Asiedu Nketia also said “I’m not surprised that they are presenting new reasons why they think what they want must be accepted. Unfortunately, they appear to be messing up their case further.”
