Bad road leaves passengers stranded on Wa-Lawra road [Photos]

Travelers on the Wa-Lawra-Nandom road in the Upper West region were on Tuesday left stranded between Fro and Lawra after torrential rain left the road immotorable.

Dozens of vehicles carrying over 200 ghanaians and about 50 Burkinabes traveling to Wa and other parts of the country to transact business are currently waiting on authorities of the Lawra District Assembly to come to their aid.

Alhaji Aziz Maigoro, a driver from Burkina Faso told Citi News that he and 17 other passengers have been stranded for the past three days.

Some Ghanaian passengers also blamed government for the deplorable nature of the road. “This road has been been like this for ages, yet we vote.

How can we be reduced to this level, sleeping in the bush in the 21st century?” Stranded Rashid Abdullah.

Citi news can report that the road has been awarded to a contractor since 2011.

However’the contractor, P&W GHANEM has abandon the project due to delays in payment from central government.

The DCE for Lawra, Pascal Dery could not be reached for a response.
