Some aggrieved customers of DKM Microfinance in the Brong Ahafo Region are threatening to embark on a massive demonstration this Friday August 14, 2015 following the continuous freeze on their investments by the Bank of Ghana (BoG).

According to them their action follows BOG’s failure to respond to calls to release their deposits.
DKM with branches in Sunyani, Bolgatanga and Wa had its operations suspended on the 11th of May this year after it violated the banking act.
According to the BOG, the company failed to hold sufficient assets to meet its liabilities to depositors.
Following the 90 day moratorium, customers of DKM microfinance have appealed to the central bank to give back maturing investments to them whiles investigations continue a plea the central bank declined.
Citi News’ Kwadwo Brefo reports that the aggrieved customers numbering about 5000 have been asked to bus themselves to Sunyani on Friday to participate in the demonstration.
Meanwhile some customers of DKM Microfinance in Bolgatanga are threatening to hurl the Bank of Ghana to court if their investments are not released.
One of such customers who invested about GHC 40,000 says he will be compelled to sue the company if his funds are not released after the 90 day moratorium which elapses tomorrow.
‘’I invested GHC 40,000 cedis but you see investing in these microfinance companies has never being my thing but I was convinced by a trusted friend who works at DKM and I did but if finally the company is not able to refund my money to me, I may be compelled to take legal action against them’’
Meanwhile the Bank of Ghana is yet to officially communicate on whether or not the monies of the customers will be released anytime soon following a receipt of audit findings into the company’s books.
