The President of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), Dr Kwabena Adusei Poku has said the association and government have agreed to insert the payment of their conditions of service in the 2015/2016 budget after an agreement has been reached.

According to him, the association was not demanding the payment of their conditions of service this year but rather in 2016.

[contextly_sidebar id=”jvDAwblHJQJApAj2RQPfOuee6g6rhxjf”]President John Mahama yesterday stated that government would not pay any unbudgeted monies to public workers.

Speaking to Citi News, Dr Kwabena Adusei said any agreement made on their conditions of service must be implemented in January 2016.

“We have not said we needed money from government now. What the government negotiating team is not telling Ghanaians is that we said whatever agreement we come to will be factored in 2016 budget to start implementation in January 2016.”

“Our basic salary is not part of this negotiation because it is on the single spine and nobody can touch it. It’s not true that doctors are demanding salaries, it’s not true that we are demanding money from the government this 2015. And assuming we were is there anything wrong with it? All those who say all the things that they say some of them they don’t know so we forgive them. who works in this country without conditions of service. Is it a crime that doctors want conditions of service? It’s not.”

He further explained that, their demand for the conditions of service is for upcoming doctors and the next generation.
