Delegates of the Gomoa East branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will go to the polls to elect their parliamentary candidate on 8th August 8.
This followed the dismissal of an interlocutory injunction by the Agona Swedru High Court filed by Mr Adolf Mfodwo, a member of the party in the Gomoa East.
[contextly_sidebar id=”DOhx1oPFYQBTuxvLm9wNDF0pad5AO5jb”]Mr Adjei Baffoe, Central Regional Organizer of NPP who disclosed in an interview, said now that the court had thrown out the case.
Mr Mfodwo had prayed the court to declare Dr Marcus Danso, the winner, because he obtained 154 votes, while Mr Kojo Asomani had 153 votes, in the election held in June at Gomoa Akramang.
The Election Commission (EC) did not declare a winner, because the two candidates tied up with each of the contestant polling 153 votes.
This did not go down well with supporters of Mr Danso, and so they filed the injunction.
Mr Baffoe said after the court case, the Regional Chairman Mr Robert Kutin, met the two candidates and their supporters in Cape Coast to discuss matters affecting the welfare of the party, and advised the supporters of the two candidates to remain calm and accept and verdict of the court to enable the Party to move forward.
Mr Baffoe urged the supporters to bury their differences, reminding them that the most important offer party members could give to the party was to go into election 2016 with a united front to ensure victory.
He urged the delegates to elect a marketable candidate who would be acceptable to the electorate.
