Police in Bawku have arrested a 31 year old cocoa farmer from Bawku, Dramani Azuri living in Afigyasi in the Ashanti region.

He was arrested for allegedly defiling a 13 year old pupil of the Bawku Wataniya English and Arabic Primary School.

The alleged rapist was reported to have committed the crime when the victim visited her Auntie at Afigyasi in the Ashanti Region.

A teacher from the victim’s school, Mr. Abugri Dominick Asana told Citi News, he masterminded Dramani Azuri’s arrest.

He said the victim was allegedly raped by Dramani Azuri on March 20th, 2014.

According to him, the suspect attempted to coerce the victim’s family to amicably settle the matter.

“It was true the man called saying that he wanted to settle it the local way so I also made some psychology with the parents who invited him and I sent some police for his arrest.”

He said the suspect had been transferred to Afigyasi for trial.
