Vodafone Ghana has stepped up its commitment to empower young girls for the future benefit of the country.

Under a mentorship initiative by the Women in Vodafone, in partnership the Leading Ladies Network, the telecommunications company has organised a day’s programme for school girls from six junior high schools within Accra.

The girls were selected from various schools including St. Theresa School, God’s Grace International, Sunflower School, Apenkwa JHS and Crown Prince Academy.

They were taken through a range of topics including “Dreams and aspirations of a young lady in preparation for the Corporate World” and “How to prepare to be a woman leader in school and your community”.

Commenting on the mentorship programme, Stella Agyenim-Boateng, Human Resource Director for Vodafone Ghana, said:

“We have a role to play in shaping the future of these young ladies. This mentorship programme is not only about sharing rich experiences but more about preparing the minds of young females for the future of this country. It is our responsibility to empower these young ones to cultivate a certain level of confidence to become whoever they want to be”.

Women in Vodafone Ghana, is a forum of female Vodafone Ghana employees committed to the development of young female students.

Over the last three years, it has supported several non-governmental organisations in Ghana to offer protection and livelihoods to women and children.
