Judgement on the case involving business man Alfred Agbesi Woyome was on Thursday, April 17 adjourned to Wednesday, April 30th.
The Presiding Judge, His Lordship, John Ajet-Nassam explained that he was indisposed for two weeks for which reason he could not complete his ruling on the accused submission of no case.
Mr. Alfred Agbesi Woyome in his submission of no case prayed the court to dismiss all the allegations levelled against him including defrauding the state under false pretense.
Counsel for the accused, Lawyer Musah Ahmed after the brief court sitting told Citi News his client was optimistic of having his submission of no case upheld.
He said the state prosecutor could not provide substantial evidence during cross examination of all the nine prosecution witnesses to prove that Mr. Alfred Agbesi Woyome was guilty of any wrong doing.
On the next adjourned date, it is expected that the court will either dismiss the accused submission of no case or uphold it.
If the court dismisses it, then Mr. Alfred Agbesi Woyome will have to mount the witness box and open his defense for the case to travel its fullest length.
But if the court upholds his submission of no case, Mr. Alfred Agbesi Woyome’s charges of defrauding the state by false pretense and causing financial loss to the state will be a thing of the past.
Hundreds of fans of Mr. Woyome got disappointed when the much anticipated ruling on the case between the Republic and Mr. Alfred Agbesi Woyome was adjourned.
Some of them who travelled from Hohoe, Tamale, Kumasi, Bolga, Wa and Yendi to solidarize with Mr. Alfred Agbesi Woyome anticipated that their man would have been exonerated.
They held placards some of which read, Free Woyome, Woyome is innocent, Leave Woyome alone and set Woyome free.
