A former Northern Regional Minister, Prince Imoro Andani has advised government to ignore what he described as chieftaincy contractors and directly deal with the two Regents of Dagbon whose late fathers’ funerals are still pending after several years.
“We have to resolve the problem devoid of individual and personal interest and it is about time that government should stick to it and I want to promise that we will give the support to ensure that chieftaincy contractors are played down because Dagbon is bigger than individual contractors.”

“I insist that we should open up the stake holding: get the two Princes together, we have to relook at our constitution and stop these compromises: we can compromise and perform funerals but we should not compromise to make a king because is the different compromises that have brought about reactions at different times,” he stressed.
He said President John Dramani Mahama’s administration will set unprecedented record if funerals of the late Yaa-Naa Mahamadu Abdulai and that of Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani II are performed as planned.
He recalled the courageous footstep the Kufuor led NPP administration took and buried the late Yaa-Yakubu Andani II.
“I am looking at a situation where we will a Dagbon devoid of Abudu or Andani: why are we used as pigeons?” he asked.
Prince Imoro Andani pledged his commitment to assist government in that regard.
“It is about time we take control of our lives: I hate hypocrisy and I have known Princes who will tell you they don’t want to get involved in chieftaincy issues at the same time they go behind you trying to become chiefs that is absolute hypocrisy.”
He condemned some elites from Dagbon who are behind the scenes thwarting efforts to resolve the age long chieftaincy impasse between the Abudu and Andani royals.
“We ask ourselves several questions: for the several wars we have fought over the years have you ever seen any elite losing the son as a soldier fighting for either Abudu or Andani? Most of them have their children well educated to the detriment of our people.”
