The T. I Ahmadiaya School in Salaga has been closed down by the Northern Regional Security Council in collaboration with the Northern Regional Directorate of Education.

[contextly_sidebar id=”Li3ZVMocVcnCYfZKnAtScMZoP9ZEYp9p”]The closure follows riot by students at the school leading to the death of one person.

Northern Regional Police PRO, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh told Citi News that the closure is one of the measures to prevent further escalation of the situation.

“It has been closed down, students have been asked to go to their various places. So as we speak now, they are on their way to Tamale under Police escort. The school has been closed down until further notice.”

He explained that the decision was taken because the “actions of the students were becoming a drawback.”

A resident of Salaga in the Northern Region was reportedly shot dead by the Police following riots between students and authorities of the T.l Ahmadiya school.

The incident occurred after the students protested a directive instructing them to wear sandals to the examination hall.
