FCP Premier League Week 22 wrap: Lions stun Kotoko, Inter Allies win again

Defending league champions, Asante Kotoko, were held 1-1 by Hasaacas at the Essipong Stadium.

Kotoko took the lead in the second half through Issah Yakubu but a late penalty from Dennis Opoku denied the Reds all three points.

Defender Abeiku Ainooson was sent off for the foul that caused the penalty.

Kotoko still the table with 51 points while Hasaacas are fourth with 36 points.

Inter Allies took another step towards Premier League survival with a hard-fought 1-0 win over  Wa All Stars.

A first half strike from Abdul Safiu Fatau settled the encounter and gave the Tema-based team their ninth unbeaten match in ten second round matches and move them up to 31 points on the table.

Wa All Stars are now eighth on 33 points.

Hearts of Oak suffered their third straight loss when they were beaten by Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park.

Bennet Ofori scored the winner for the Blues to hand them a seventh position on 33 points while Hearts are now third on 38 points.

Second-placed Heart of Lions could only manage a 1-1 home draw with Aduana Stars.

Lions took the lead through Mohammed Razir but local Black Stars right back Godfred Saka pulled the former league champions level

The result gives Lions 41 points and Aduana Stars are at the bottom of the log with 27 points.

In other results, Liberty Professionals complicated Dwarfs’ fight to stay up with a 1-0 victory in Dansoman and Bechem United went past New Edubiase by a similar scoreline.

King Faisal edged Amidaus Professionals 3-2 at the Baba Yara Stadium.
