A group calling itself the Concerned Youth of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) wants the party’s leadership to state who won the Deputy National Youth Organizer position in the party.

This comes on the back of growing unrest on the youth front of the NDC as uncertainties deepen around the unresolved results of the Second Deputy National Youth Organizer position of the party.

[contextly_sidebar id=”7hy8kAdSY0QaayS6SUct2SGQMUaJAmEe”]The NDC’s Council of Elders and Legal Committee are frantically trying to settle the impasse between the incumbent James Kofi Fonu Kpatakpa and Abigail Elorm Mensah over who won the election held in December last year.

In an interview with Citi News, the vice president of the NDC youth group, Ayisha Alhassan insisted that their appeal is because the youth front is suffering in the absence of a substantive deputy youth organizer for the party.

“We are expecting our leaders to act on the brouhaha. The contention between the two deputy national youth organizers. As it stands now, nothing has been heard from the party. The constitution states very clearly that there should be two deputies in order to manage the youth front. They should come out clear and declare their stance so we will know whether there will be a re-run or there will be a declaration of one of them as deputy national youth organizer of the party,” she said.

A statement signed by leaders of the group further stated that “the drafters of the constitution factored into the complexity and the vast nature of the youth organization and hence the need for two deputies.”

“We, the concerned youth of the NDC feel that this void or lacuna created in the youth leadership could adversely affect the mobilization of the youth which is crucial for our victory in election 2016.”
