Iconic American entrepreneurs, investors and philanthropists Jean and Steve Case have challenged the youth in Ghana to be inspired by the success story of other young entrepreneurs in the country.
According to the American entrepreneurs who were in the country to interact with local start up owners like the CEO of smsgh Alex Adjei Bram and the Managing Director of DTRT Limited Salma Salifu, the future of Ghana and Africa lies in start – up entrepreneurship.
Earlier this week the Cases participated in this year’s Global Entrepreneur Summit (GES) in Nairobi, Kenya as members of the US delegation of Presidential Ambassadors for Global Entrepreneurship.
Speaking to Citi Business News Steve Case said one way of reducing unemployment is having the youth take a shot at starting their own businesses which will help industrialize Ghana and Africa.
“I see an opportunity here go by we need to educate some of the up and coming talents here in the country as the future of Ghana and the future of Africa in large part is what happens in the business economy, what happens in terms of people creating jobs and the place that needs more focus in every part of the world is around the start up entrepreneurship side being the reason why we are here, the youth will have to take up the challenge to come with some innovative ideas and put them to use.”
The most important place to focus on is to drive growth, drive innovation and in the long run drive job creation by these entrepreneurs some of whom are creating tech start – ups in the country. Someday the sector can produce up to some hundred thousand jobs which will go a long way to cut down the huge unemployment figures in the country Steve Case said.
Wanjo Foods which processes indigenous crops into food products worn 25,000 dollars at a pitch competition hosted by the Case Foundation at impact hub Accra.
