Ghana will be at a standstill on the Saturday, October 24, 2015.

No, the traffic lights in the country won’t all simultaneously fail, and no elections either.

Swansea and Aston Villa, certainly not the most prestigious clubs in the world will be the talk of the town.

Following the announcement of Jordan Ayew’s move to Aston Villa on Monday and Andre Ayew’s transfer to Swansea earlier this summer, Ghanaian interest in arguably the world’s best league has gone through the roof.

The pubs will be packed the streets empty and Twitter will be abuzz as the two Ayews face off.
Jordan

There was a will he/won’t he moment when the move threatened to fall through when the French club demanded more money for the player, probably after seeing Benteke leave for Liverpool for a healthy sum.

Jordan eventually stood his ground and pushed for the transfer and Lorient caved; good thing too or they would probably have felt the wrath of 25 million football-crazy people.

The EPL is set for a historic season for Ghanaian players; Christian Atsu joined newcomers Bournemouth on loan from Premier League champions Chelsea earlier in the transfer window after spending a frustrating season at Everton, while Jeffery Schlupp was one of Leicester City’s best performers last season.

Chelsea are also widely expected to complete the signing of highly-rated Ghanaian left-back Baba Rahman from German club Augsburg before the transfer window shuts.

Andre-and-Jo-Ayew

We will be well into the new Premier League season and have a good idea about which direction both clubs and players’ seasons are heading by October.

But whatever positions the two teams lie when they meet, one thing can be certain Ghana will most definitely be watching.

Commentary of the match and other Barclays Premier League matches will be on Citi 97.3 FM. Tune in for comprehensive coverage of what promises to be an amazing season with the #CitiSports team.
