Vodafone Ghana is consolidating its leadership in the ‘Machine-2-Machine’ technology space in Ghana.

The concept, which has been touted as the new frontier of global telecommunications, is transforming the world of work and economic development across the globe.

Currently about 21- million Vodafone M2M SIMs are connecting assets in various industries in the world.

Recently an independent study by Analysys Mason in some of the world’s biggest telecom companies revealed Vodafone Group as the best Machine to Machine (M2M) service provider in the world.

It was the fourth time in a row that the company had been recognised as the leader in the research.

Now Vodafone is looking to leverage this global recognition to deliver connectivity solutions that will stand the test of time in Ghana.

Ghana’s telecommunications landscape continues to evolve with intense competition – and Vodafone is deploying ways of staying ahead of the rest.

Vodafone’s capabilities in M2M in Ghana cover some of the most crucial areas of the economy including health, transport, logistics, banking, utilities and security.

These industries are using Vodafone’s SIM cards to connect devices to enhance their efficiency and productivity output. The focus is to deliver practical innovation to customers in Ghana and West Africa.

The company also has in place dedicated engineers, product managers and sales teams to ensure customer needs are met.

Haris Broumidis, Chief Executive of Vodafone Ghana is bullish about the power of this platform for the transformation of Ghana’s technological journey.

“The future is here with us. Our great global capabilities under M2M are the best in the world and we are pleased to see it in action in Ghana. We have only just begun and in the coming months, we hope to introduce other product capabilities to further establish our position.”

Angela Mensah-Poku, the Head of Vodafone Business Solutions, the unit currently deploying the concept in the country said “We are excited to be at the forefront of this technology. It presents, for us, a whole new world of possibilities. Our customers can now benefit from greater economies of scale to improve their output. We want our customers to be in control of their processes and services to make significant financial savings.”

Altogether Ghana has, over the past two years, witnessed about a 400% growth in the usage of M2M SIMS across various sectors and about 40 vendors with established presence. There is an opportunity for further consolidation and Vodafone’s vision is to continue to lead the way.
