The Northern Regional Minister has declared his intention to contest the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary primary in the Damongo constituency.

“I have seen that a lot of the representations are not right and we must bring a change in politics,” Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna exclusively told Citi News.

[contextly_sidebar id=”WRHPeBvrJJjTWj7NHAd7OyyWKkmRf7yC”]He emphasized, “I am going to Damongo that’s where I come from: so I will straight forward go to Damongo and I need to represent and represent them properly so that they will know that there are real politicians coming, there are changed politicians,” Alhaji Limuna said rescinding his decision could affect his political career because there are incessant calls on him to do so.

“What I can do to consolidate myself as a politician is definitely to go to Parliament so yes is true I want to go to Parliament because I think I have to represent my people and represent them properly.”

His intention might shorten the portfolio of the incumbent NDC Member of Parliament, Hon. Adam Mutawakil, a former District Chief Executive for West Gonja.

He narrowly lost the primary ahead of the 2012 general elections due to unforeseen obstacle.

Damongo, district capital of the West Gonja District is the traditional capital of Gonjaland.

As the seat of all overlords of the Gonja Kingdom, the area is endowed with natural resources and touristic sites including the Mole National Park and the historic Larabanga Mosque.
