The General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia has stated that the legacy of good governance, continuity and servant leadership of the late President Mills still lives.
Today is exactly three years since the passing of Professor John Evans Mills at the 37 military Hospital at age 68.

Three years down the line, the General Secretary of the political party on whose ticket he rode to be President has been paying glowing tribute to the late statesman, describing him as one of the best leaders the nation ever had.
“His ideals still live on. He advocated for peaceful transition and I think President Mahama has fit that bill very well. Professor Mills was the first President who advocated for the sustenance of contracts that have been entered into by previous governments and I think the way he has set the standards, it is not going to be easy for any future President to want to do what was happening in the past because he demonstrated the principle of Mahamat Magandi that an eye for an eye will lead the whole society blind.”
Rawlings chose Mills for his competence
Nketia’s commendation comes days after the immediate past Governor of Ekiti State in Nigeria, Dr. Kayode Fayemi highlighted some achievements chalked by the late political leader.
Delivering the 3rd Atta Mills Memorial Lecture on Tuesday, Dr. Fayemi said the selection of the late Professor John Atta Mills as presidential candidate of the NDC was a reward for his competence.
The Member of Parliament for the North Tongu constituency , Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa also described him as a rare African leader cast in the image of Dr. Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah .
President Atta Mills was President of Ghana from 2009 and 2012 when he died in office.
