Government has rescheduled the date for its first National Economic Forum.
President Mahama last week announced government will from this year commence a National Economic Forum.
The move is to bring together all stakeholders to brainstorm on the economy.
The brainstorming with comprise of all political parties, civil society, private sector, labour and government.
The first forum was initially slated for June this year but Vice President Kwesi Amissah Arthur says the forum will now be held by the second week of May this year.
The Vice President made this known when he meet a high powered EU delegation led by Claude Maerten at the flagstaff house this morning.
Vice President Amissah says government is prepared to share findings from the Economic dialogue with the European Union as a way of engineering support from the EU for government’s economic programs aimed at addressing the current challenges.
He explained that ,”We have agreed that on our side we will have a national conference on the economy, we are holding it in the week of 19 to 22 May, we hope we will be able to get a national consensus of the difficult measures that we have to implement to achieve the objective of the 2014 budget” .
The countries current Economic challenges has been a source of worry for Ghana’s international partners who have at various platforms opined solutions some of which are considered severe.
The high powered EU-Ghana Political dialogue is being attended by some key Ministers of state and almost all Ambassadors of EU countries in Ghana.
The meeting amongst other things will also discuss the EPA and its implications for Ghana, as well as Ghana – EU trade and investments partnership.
