The Supreme Court has adjourned to October 15, the suit filed by the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) against the Attorney General (AG) and the Judicial Council regarding the proper procedure for appointing Justices to the Supreme Court .
The Registrar of the court announced the adjournment to lawyers of the GBA led by Thadius Sory and the Attorney General represented by the Solicitor General, Cynthia Lamptey.
[contextly_sidebar id=”YYWVNnTltFmqTsXEUY6NGeOHcM4HNP6n”]No reason was assigned for the adjournment even though the case was scheduled for hearing today [Thursday].
The GBA and three others filed a suit at the Supreme Court praying the court to nullify the appointment of Justice Yaw Apau and Gabriel Pwamang as Supreme Court Justices.
The plaintiffs are of the view that the processes the President used in the appointment of the two Justices were “unconstitutional.”
Meanwhile, a lawyer, Mathias Kwasi Yakah, has called on the GBA to withdraw its suit before the Supreme Court.
He said the leadership of the Association did not obtain the mandate of the members before taking the action on behalf of the Association.
