The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA has deployed a number of surveillance officers to ensure that manufacturers who produce the six vitality herbal medicines recalled from the market abide by the order.
This comes on the back of the FDA’s decision to revoke marketing authorization permits for the sale and distribution of six aphrodisiacs.
[contextly_sidebar id=”ADUMrEGVbtzumx2NbnTceBXABQmjVE93″]In an interview with Citi News, Head of the Drugs Registration and Inspection Division at the FDA, Seth Seaneke, indicated that the manufacturing companies are complying with the order.
“They are our clients and once you want to be in the medicine business, you have a regulator and you need to comply to his directive. At the same time you have officers around the regions who go round to see whether those directives are being adhered to,” Seaneke explained.
“Sometimes we don’t inform the public. We only inform practitioners, health professionals because it not a programme that is generally available for all but for programmes that are generally available for all, it means that in terms of proximity they are less, they are well known so everybody can buy so we need to inform the public, we need to use your medium to let everyone know that this is what is happening so that they will also not patronise it,” he added.
The products that were banned are Rockman Capsules, manufactured by RockCare Clinic; Angel Natural Capsules by Angel Herbal Products Industry and Tinattet Be4 Be4 Capsules by Tinattet Marketing Co. Ltd.
The others are Adom Gentleman Power Capsules, manufactured by Dependable Pharmacy; Laud P Capsules by the Stephen Gyan Herbal Centre and Mars for Men, imported by Joe D.D. Ventures.
All the products were found to have been adulterated with Vardenafil, a synthetic pharmaceutical ingredient used in the formulation of prescription-only medicine for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.
