Citi Business News has gathered that the World Bank has raised concerns over the proposed arrangements for the setting up of new national airline.
[contextly_sidebar id=”RWKPZqJOiDMgtd56WooLark5iosDLBBO”]According to sources the proposed arrangement in the feasibility report from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) which has been submitted to the World bank, which are financiers of the project is currently under discussion for a review of some aspects of the report.
The Transport Ministry appointed PWC as the transaction advisors for the project. PWC earlier submitted their feasibility report which will be used to prepare the request for the proposal to invite interested parties who may want to partner government in setting up a new national carrier.
Confirming the World Bank’s concerns on the feasibility report submitted by PWC the Chief Director of the Ministry of Transport Twumasi Ankrah – Selby said he was hopeful PWC will add the suggestions from the World Bank to move the process forward.
“You know that the whole project is being financed by the World Bank and normally at every stage of the project we go to the bank for their comments but currently the bank is commenting on the feasibility report which has been submitted by PWC and they feel that the arrangements currently should be looked at differently. We are currently in discussion and hope that we will get over all the concerns that they have raised but I can say that we are on course for the establishment of the national airline.”
Chief Director of the Ministry of Transport Twumasi Ankrah – Selby dispelled rumors that the World Bank was raising objections with regards to the arrangements proposed by the consultant PWC but the bank was rather making suggestions in the arrangements which he says the Ministry was in talks with the consultant -PWC in factoring in suggestions from the financier.
