Muslims in Ghana have been told not to prioritize girl child education over boys.

The Deputy Minister of Transport, Joyce Bawa Mogtari said this during a donation to the Ayawaso Muslim community.

She said it was important boys received equal access to education too.

According to her, the issue of girls access to education has been overly promoted to the detriment of the boy child.

Bawa Mogtari was speaking to the Muslim community in Ayawaso Central Constituency in Accra when she donated some food items ahead of the Eid celebration.

She said President Mahama was working hard to promote quality education and urged the leaders to take full advantage of the President’s efforts.

Bawa Mogtari also called on the Muslim leaders to teach tolerance and consolidate the the peace in country.

“Be mindful of avoiding anything that endangers the peace…respect everybody’s peace and tolerate each other”, she said.

The Deputy Minister presented 70 bags of rice, 50 cartons of cooking oil, 50 cartons of tomatoes and boxes of spaghetti.

She used the opportunity to wish Muslims in Ghana “the best when we approach Eid” and prayed Muslim youth will limit the involvement of motorbikes which almost always lead to loss of lives.
