The Corporate Services Executive of MTN Ghana Cynthia Lumor has told Citi News that the company will consider increasing prices of its services if the current unfavorable business environment persists.

She said, “If we need to, [increase prices of services] we will because we have to be sustainable. People need the technology but we prefer to consider other things before it gets to that, so it’s a possibility.”

[contextly_sidebar id=”IJmeuTujJX1TkDzWhwZnr3boHgxcjM9n”]MTN recently announced that the high operational cost occasioned by the ongoing erratic power supply in the country led to some 37% and 45% increase in the company’s cost of operation especially for fuel and electricity.

She explained that the current business atmosphere “is a difficult time for all of us, but for a leader like MTN, we cannot deprive our customers of the 24 hour quality voice and data services because of ‘dumsor.”

We cannot allow events to take us by surprise which is why we have to consider other options”.

“…If there is the need to increase prices of services we will let our customers know, but I hope our customers also realizes that technology is indeed an enabler. They way you use the access we provide in terms of your business, in terms of the way you stay in touch with your family and loved ones are benefits that come to you and so if you will have to pay a little more, that shouldn’t be an issue,” Mrs. Lumor opined.

She added that “that notwithstanding we will continue to put the kind of investment we need to expand our infrastructure and support services in order to provide enhanced customer experience for our resolve to lead a bold new digital experience.”
