The spokesperson for the Regent of Bimbilla, Tahiru Osman Kikaa has told Citi News that the Nanumba Traditional Council will resist any attempt by some people in the area to disrespect their tradition.
The recent clashes followed the refusal of some butchers to present a portion of their meat to the Regent as demanded by tradition.

According to Tahiru Osman Kikaa, moves by some local butchers to disregard the Regent will not be accepted.
Bimbilla has been in the news recently following the death of over 19 people after violence broke out there.
Speaking to Citi News Tahiru Osman Kikaa said the traditional council “will ensure discipline in the area.”
“The tradition existed long before the coming into any other institution in Ghana. We are not going to allow anybody to hide in the name of human rights or legalities to demean our culture. We will never entertain the rewrite of Nanun tradition. We will ensure that discipline is indeed brought to the doorstep of Nanun,” he added.
The spokesperson further warned that “the regent is not going to take things for granted” while cautioning trouble makers in the area to desist from it.
“They shouldn’t think that because of this, they will get the opportunity to go and perform as butchers so long as they refuse to pay the royalty. That one count on us, we will not agree to that…If you ask me what will bring peace, all I can say is that the same people who are bringing this kind of chaos should understand that the tradition will continue to play its role,” he added.
Regent indicted
Meanwhile, a Police report on the clashes indicted the Regent of Bimbilla, Nyilinboligu-Naa Andani Dasana.
According to the report presented in a Tamale District Court, the Regent’s attempt to ban three butchers from using the Bimbila Abattoir triggered the clashes.
However, the Regent has dismissed the claims.
