The 13 people who were killed in last week’s shooting incident in Bimbilla in the Northern Region, was over a piece of meat, which weighs about 2.5 pounds, a butcher belonging to one of the factions told Citi News.

“If you weigh that thing, it should be about 2 or 2.5 pounds.”

Fuseini Yakubu, secretary of the Bimbilla Taribabu butchers gate disclosed said this on the Point Blank segment on Eyewitness News on Monday.

“My problem is, we are all Muslims, and we are at the last ten days and this is the time that Islam teaches us that we have to always be doing good things so that we will receive the blessings of God. And I am really surprised that someone will plan an attack at this particular important calendar of Islam,” Yakubu lamented.

Eight people have also been arrested including the Palace Registrar.

Yakubu further charged the security agencies to investigate the matter adding that “they should do well to bring the perpetrators of this attack to book because it was done in broad day light, to serve as a deterrent to others.”

The secretary also called on residents of Bimbilla “to be patient and wait for the authorities to actually do a very fair investigation so that we receive justice and lasting peace in Bimbilla.”
