The Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) has cautioned the public against a purported ongoing recruitment exercise.

[contextly_sidebar id=”0QICzKh4ZuW5qeCJHkFFRicI5v3tspvN”]According to NACOB, it has picked information that “some unscrupulous persons with criminal intent are going about deceiving and duping unsuspecting people under false pretences with a promise of securing employment for them in NACOB.”

A statement signed by the Executive Secretary of NACOB, Yaw Akrasi-Sarpong, said “before NACOB embarks on any recruitment exercise, there will be at least two-newspaper advertisement by NACOB.”

The statement further advised the public to report any person(s) who purports to act as any agent of NACOB for the purpose of any recruitment to employ personnel for NACOB to the nearest Police Station or to the headquarters of NACOB in Accra or any of the Regional Offices of NACOB in Ghana.

NACOB facing challenges – Minister

In another development, Deputy Minister of the Interior, Mr James Agalga, has alerted Parliament and other stakeholders on the need to adequately resource NACOB to carry out its mandate effectively.

He revealed that the governing Board of the agency, which was dissolved in November last year, is yet to reconstituted adding that there is lack of state of the art equipment, a national drug rehabilitation centre and inadequate budgetary allocation.
