Pensions Regulatory Authority gets new CEO

Mr. Kofi Anokye Owusu-Darko has been appointed as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA), statement said on Tuesday.

Mr. Owusu-Darko replaces Mr. Laud A.K. Senanu, the out-going Acting Chief Executive Officer, who joined the Authority in November, 2013.

[contextly_sidebar id=”qMX7yNLBosRXT8SIUad7Xun76XjVAu39″]A statement issued by the Corporate Affairs Manager of the NPRA said, the appointment which took retrospective effect from June 22, was made by the President.

Mr. Owusu-Darko is a Chartered Banker, a Chartered Professional Administrator, a licensed Management Consultant, and a Registered Organization Development Practitioner with the International Society for Organization Development.

He is also a Certified International Professional Manager (IPMA-UK) UK), with an Executive MBA in Information Technology Management from Paris Graduate School of Management, France, ), a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Management (ACCA-UK), and a Master of Laws (LLM) in Information Technology & Telecommunication from the Glasgow School of Law (University of Strathclyde).

The statement said, as a qualified OD practitioner and a trained facilitator, Mr Owusu-Darko had conducted organization assessments, leading to diagnosis of culture, team effectiveness and organizational effectiveness, as well as dynamic team-building and strategic planning interventions.

Mr. Owusu-Darko has also facilitated workshops in advanced negotiations and conflict management.

He is an examiner in Organization Development & Change with the Chartered Institute of Administrators and Management Consultants (CIAMC).

Mr. Owusu-Darko started his banking career in 1986 with the Barclays Bank Ghana Limited, and also worked with Metropolitan & Allied Bank (now UT Bank), Merchant Bank (now UMB Bank) and The Royal Bank.

He held various leadership and management positions, which included Branch Manager, Head of Audit & Internal Control, Head of Branch Operations, Manager of Banking Operations, Head of Consumer Banking Operations and Head of Risk Management & Compliance.

He was a pioneer and very instrumental in setting up The Royal Bank.

He also established the control systems, policies and structures in setting up 11 branches in the first year of the Bank’s operations.

Mr. Owusu-Darko loves research and writing, and has published articles in both the Ghanaian Times and Business & Financial Times newspapers on legal issues on the deployment of Information Technology in Ghana.

Mr Owusu-Darko joins NPRA with rich, transferable professional skills and invaluable expertise, the statement added.
