The National Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu has alleged that money tilted the results in the Talensi by-election in favour of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Both the NDC and NPP had prior to the by-election accused each other of influencing the electorates with money and other goodies.

The NDC’s B.T. Baba after the end of polls on Tuesday was elected as the Member of Parliament for Talensi.

However, the NPP has said that it is not surprised at the outcome of theyesterday’s elections.

The party’s National Organizer, John Boadu speaking to Citi News said “we were not very surprised,” after the polls because “… It is the resources that are meant for the development of all of us that the NDC have decided to appropriate to themselves to be shared.”

“As we moved around, we are saw road construction works, all of a sudden lights springing up, and it is the abuse of incumbency that all of us are looking on,” he observed.

John Boadu further stated that “… I was thinking that the people of Talensi will look at the maladministration, the incompetence and corruption of this government and voted against them. Impoverish the people, [and] if it is time for election, come and pretend as if you are bringing development to win their votes, which is a sad day for Ghana. My view is for the people of this country to get state institutions to do the right thing.”

The exercise was characterized by acts of violence which were allegedly perpetrated by some NDC and NPP youth.
