The newly elected Member of Parliament (MP) for Talensi, B.T. Baba has said he was the best candidate among his peers in the just ended by-election in the constituency which saw recapture the seat for his party.
According to him, his message which was to facilitate development in the area as well as setting up the Talensi development fund to support the people in the area won the hearts of the people of Talensi.
B.T. Baba polled 10, 366 votes representing 42.31% of the total votes while the NPP’s Wuni Thomas Buanab polled 6,845 votes representing 27.94%.
B.T. Baba told journalists after the results were declared that he will begin work immediately.

So I’m most grateful to the electorates for buying into my message and also voting massively for me.”
He added that “with the contestants, I didn’t see any of them as a big challenge. I saw them as people who were making the effort but not as a major challenge to take back the seat from the NDC.”
“The rest is for me to start working so work begins immediately so that I can put the policies I have in place.”
In a related development, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said that it is not surprised at the outcome of the election.
The party’s National Organizer, John Boadu speaking to Citi News alleged that money tilted the results in favour of the NDC.
“We were not very surprised, I was thinking that the people of Talensi will look at the maladministration, the incompetence and corruption of this government and voted against them. Impoverish the people, [and] if it is time for election, come and pretend as if you are bringing development to win their votes, which is a sad day for Ghana. My view is for the people of this country to get state institutions to do the right thing.”
The people of Talensi voted to choose a new Member of Parliament (MP) to replace their ex-legislator Robert Mosore who has now been enskinned the Paramount Chief of the area.
The election was characterized by acts of violence which were allegedly perpetrated by some NDC and NPP youth.
