Some schools in the Talensi Constituency in the Upper East Region have been closed for Tuesday’s elections in the area.
Most of the schools in the constituency are serving as polling centres for the election.
Citi News’ Frederick Awuni reported that “at the Shia primary and Pusu Namongo primary schools, pupils were asked to go home by the authorities of the schoo.”
Meanwhile, voting is ongoing in all the 74 polling stations in the constituency.
In all 39,523 eligible voters are expected to cast their votes.
Some of the candidates contesting the seat include, Joseph Toatoba, Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Dennis Atiah Tambil, Independent People’s Party (IPP), James Mambora Doubil, New Vision Party (NVP), Benson Tongo Baba, National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Dr Wumbeogo Michael Namalteng, People’s National Convention (PNC).
The rest are Yaro Bameezina Philip, Ghana Freedom Party (GFP),Isaac Kungarzore, United Progressive Party (UPP) and Wuni Thomas Pearson Duanab, New Patriotic Party (NPP).
