Parliamentary Primaries of the New Patriotic Party in the North Dayi constituency of the Volta Region may suffer further delays after some executives in the area hauled their regional executives to court, accusing them of “imposing” a Parliamentary candidate on them.

[contextly_sidebar id=”bGntaP04l7ErSnPi4vifUt0l1Ai5zmej”]According to the Electoral Area Coordinator of the party, Daniel Anyigba, the position of the Parliamentary candidate became vacant because none of the potential aspirants managed to file when nominations opened in May.

Subsequently the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) was informed and they advised that proceedings be put on hold until further notice.

Days after the party’s national Parliamentary primaries, the North Dayi constituency executives are accusing the Regional Chairman Peter Amenu of acclaiming a Parliamentary candidate for the constituency without following the due process.

There is seeming tension in the NPP fraternity in the constituency as some of the aggrieved executives claimed the “candidate’’ Samuel Kwesi Anumah; a retired headmaster of Vakpo Secondary school is not a card-bearing member of the party.

“Since some of us joined the party years ago, we haven’t seen him around; he is not a card-bearing member of the party, we haven’t seen him in any party activity… We petitioned both the National Chairman and the Regional Chairman but they all refused to listen to our petition,’’ he said.

They are however praying the court to declare the acclamation by the regional chairman as null and void.

“We want the court to set aside the earlier acclamation and restrain Samuel Anumah from carrying himself as the parliamentary candidate for North Dayi” he added.
