Hosts Chile won the Copa America thanks to a 4-1 penalty shoot-out success over Argentina after the final ended goalless.
Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez dinked home the winning penalty after both Gonzalo Higuain and Ever Banega had missed from the spot for the tournament favourites.
Higuain blazed over while Banega’s effort was saved by Chile keeper Claudio Bravo.
Lionel Messi was the only man to score for the Argentines who had earlier missed a golden chance to claim victory in the dying seconds of normal time.
They broke on their hosts in Santiago but when the ball was fired into the box, Higuain, who also missed a glorious chance in last year’s World Cup final when the score was 0-0, could only hit the side netting.
