AC Milan have today confirmed that they have parted company with midfielder Sulley Muntari, with both parties terminating the Ghana star’s contract by mutual consent, as per the club’s official website.
The 30-year-old tenacious midfielder joined Milan on loan back in January 2012 from rivals Inter, after playing the previous campaign on loan at Premier League side Sunderland.
Muntari impressed during his time with the red half of Milan and so Massimiliano Allegri, manager at the time, handed him a permanent contract.
However, during his three years at the club the ex-Portsmouth man has managed just 57 league appearances and during that spell the club’s form has spiralled out of control.
Milan finished 10th last season in Serie A under Filippo Inzaghi and the Italian icon was sacked earlier this month, and replaced by Sampdoria manager Sinisa Mihajlovic.
Muntari managed 16 league appearances last season in Serie A for the Rossoneri, but four of those came off the bench as Milan struggled to find their best eleven.
The midfielder started his senior career at Udinese in 2002 and after five years there, he moved on to Portsmouth where he spent one season.
The news of Muntari’s departure from Milan may be good for Hull City, with the Hull Daily Mail reporting the Tigers are keen on his services ahead of the new Championship season.
Muntari has 83 caps for Ghana after making his debut for them back in 2002.
