A resit of the 2015 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) examination papers that were cancelled takes off across the country today.

Over four thousand candidates from over thirteen thousand public and private basic schools will be participating in the week long examination.

[contextly_sidebar id=”RN8D00k6jnixvxhY8LnArBIYSVI2jbuC”]The students will write English Language 2 followed by two other subjects today.

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) cancelled about five papers after it emerged that those papers had been “compromised”.

The subjects were English Language 2, Religious and Moral Education 2, Science 2, and Mathematics 2 and Social Studies 2.

Some affected candidates who were dismayed by the development threatened a boycott while some parents of the candidates also threatened to sue the Council.

However the second lady Mrs. Matilda Amissah Aurthur has encouraged candidates  not to be deterred by the development.

“Don’t worry at all, continue studying and don’t lose hope…go and do your best. Sometimes when these things happen you don;t understand and you think that it is unfair because you feel you have learnt so well, you haven’t been involved in anything and then you are part of it. You feel very down but I just want you to know that when these things happen, we should not take them to heart.”

She further encouraged them to desist from indulging in any form of malpractice.
