Former Deputy Minority Chief Whip and incumbent Member of Parliament for the Upper Denkyira West, Benjamin Kofi Ayeh has been defeated in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary primaries.

Nsonwa is also the current Presiding Member for the Upper Denkyira West District Assembly in the Central Region.

Benjamin Ayeh polled 115 while Samuel Nsonwa won the majority  with 220 votes.

In all 335 delegates out of 337 voted.

The Upper Denkyira West was among 30 other constituencies which could not vote in the NPP’s June 13 primaries.

This was because there were issues with some of the candidates contesting in those constituencies.

However, only 9 constituencies out of the 30 were cleared to hold their primaries today.

In another development, one of the constituencies in the Western Region, Sefwi Akontombra which was also cleared for the election could not organize it because of an impending court case.
