The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has begun dredging the Odaw River at Old Fadama.
Four excavators are currently on the site carrying out the exercise.
The exercise which begun on Saturday is expected to remove tons of filth and silt in the river to allow free flow of water into the Korle Lagoon, especially during the rainy season, to prevent the recurrent flooding.

Last week, hundreds of structures were demolished along the Odaw River at Old Fadama to make way for the dredging.
The demolition which sparked controversy had over thousands of residents rendered homeless.
