A Kumasi High court has granted an injunction application to the Kejetia Traders Association barring the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kojo Bonsu from embarking on any further activities at the Kejetia Market.

There has been confusion in Kumasi between the traders and the KMA over plans to reconstruct the Kumasi Central Market.

The traders have subsequently gone ahead to secure an injunction against the KMA.

Speaking to Citi News, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Kejetia Traders Association Andrew Coffie said :”The injunction is restraining Kojo Bonsu and the KMA from embarking on any further activity on the Kejetia premises until the case of everybody is settled.”

[contextly_sidebar id=”7eANflxHcqQd1bqonzfP4AKXe64rE1FQ”]Traders have in the past staged various demonstrations to protest a relocation to the Adehyeman market for phase one of the reconstruction of the Central Market at Kejetia to begin.

One of those demonstrations which was dubbed “Kwaterekwa” was to draw government’s attention to their plight.

The traders had planned to demonstrate again earlier this week but they suspended their decision after the court placed an injunction on the KMA.
